Kumar Sanu was more capable as an instrumentalist during his early days. He could play any leather instrument.
Other members in Kumar Sanu's family were considered to be better in singing and they had the classical music training as well, which KS did not have.
KS's father Pashupati Bhattacharya used to compose music for the local plays, which are called Jaatraas.
KS sang both for his father and his elder brother Tapan in Bengali after he had become famous.
If you pour lemon juice in to milk, it turns into, what is called, "Chhaanaa" in Bengali. So, when our dada was a mere child, his body was like "Chhaanaa". From this, he was given the name "Chhaanu" which later became "Sanu".
In his early days in the industry, his name was spelt as "Shanu", and not "Sanu". Then, in an interview on a TV channel in 1993, he said that it should be spelt as "Sanu" and not as "Shanu". Then onwards, "Sanu" spelling was followed universally.
In that interview, when Sanu was asked about his hobbies, he mentioned cooking.
Sanu's favourite sport is cricket. But he is a football fan too. He is a fan of Brazil football team. He named his first son "Jico" after the famous Brazilian superstar Jico.
