Kumar Sanu 'artist of decade' at Bollywood Music Awards
Indian playback singer Kumar Sanu, whose singing has captured the hearts of millions, will be honoured as the "Artist of the Decade" at the Bollywood Music Awards here next month.
Sanu, who holds a Guinness World Record for recording 28 songs on a single day, will receive the Artist of the Decade Award at a glitzy ceremony at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan, New York, on November 9.
This award has been instituted to honour an artist whose body of work over a period is known and admired by fans in India, the Americas and wherever South Asians reside.
As a singer Sanu has become a legend. His singing is sheer embodiment of modern pop, expressive, explosive, haunting and emotional chronicles of modern life.
He has lent his voice to more than 800 films. He also has a flair for languages and is at home singing in Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, Brij, Telugu and Kannada. Sanu has won many awards.
Sanu with many singers like Sonu Nigam, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Yesudas, Malkit Singh, Apache Indian, Jassi, Baba Sehgal, Devang Patel, Shreya Ghosal and Jazzy B are preparing to give dazzling performances on the awards night.
